I think I’ve been pretty good at blogging this summer, so I don’t really feel bad about not updating for a few days. I actually needed a vacation — a total and complete vacation where I emptied my to-do-lists and tried to really enjoy the careless life of a vacationer.
I’ve told you about my weird love for stressful and incredibly tight schedules, and how “relaxing makes me more stressed.” Well, I sort of take back that last part, haha. Now that I’ve tried it I think I should probably do more of it.
Even if I have a day off from work or school I always end up working on something. It could be planning future film projects, writing scripts, applying for film festivals or researching stuff for other projects. Those are all things I LOVE to do, so I guess it sort of qualifies as recreation, but it’s not true relaxation.
So what have I been up to?
Well, I already mentioned the renovating project with my friend Rannveig, read about that HERE. I also went fishing like five times, all by myself, and I only got one fish. Success. The little fishy was so small I didn’t even notice it until I was about to throw the fishhook into the water again. I’m not sure if I’m just a lousy f
isherman fisherwoman (feminism alert) or if I picked the wrong time and place… it could’ve been my fishing equipment. Yup, I’ll go for that excuse, haha. But at least it was some sort of recreation.
I also went climbing with Cecilie and advanced into a harder route up the wall. It was exhausting, but great fun.
Yesterday I watched the Olympics and got so inspired I went for a two-hour bike ride. Did anyone mention sore butt/pelvis-area? Oh man, I haven’t used a bike since high middle school, and I can feel that now.
I’ve also spent a significant amount of time on coffee shops catching up with friends. In Sweden they call if “fika,” but it’s the same in Norway. We just don’t have such a fancy name for it.
This summer has gone by so fast, and it’s hard to believe I’ll head back to the US in less than a week. Now my family’s waiting for me. Movie time, so talk to ya later.
