Climbing with Mrs. and Ms. Lavelle

Good afternoon!
I just ate a late lunch and, as I’m trying to write this post, my shaky fingers and sore forearms remind me of where I spent all morning — in the climbing gym!

Starting the day off right🙊 New post on the blog, link in bio #climbing

My mom and I have been dreaming about trying out climbing since forever, but today we finally did it, and it was so much fun!

To our big surprise we both made it to the top on our first try. I kind of expected my mom to make it, mostly because she’s half squirrel, but also because she’s capable of dusting the house while balancing on top of three chairs, a table and a ladder at the same time. Okay, that is perhaps taking is a little far, but you get my point.

I, on the other hand, didn’t have the greatest confidence as I tightened the harness. I used to be able to do 18 pull-ups, but it’s been a year since I even tried to do one, so I wasn’t sure I’d even make it off the ground, haha. But as soon as I got started I realized it was as much about coordination, flexibility, stamina and technique as strength.

Yup, that’s my mama.

Going down was a slighty scarier than going up because the safety-rope was controlled mechanically, and it looked so scrawny! The instructor told us to just “let go” once we reached the top, and I swear it felt like I was free-falling for seconds before the rope tightened and I could be optimistic about getting to live another day again.

I have a strange love for heights, so I’d definitely like to do this again. If you ever get the chance you should totally give it a try!
